What are Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth or third molars, are the four last teeth to erupt, generally coming in during the late teen years or early twenties. Problems usually start when wisdom teeth partially come through and get stuck against the adjacent tooth due to the lack of space available or develop and grow in the wrong direction. Infection and inflammation can develop in and around the tissue covering the wisdom tooth as well as causing problems with the tooth in front. You may even notice swollen red gums, pain, jaw stiffness, and possibly a feeling of being unwell.
